84 years young!
Here’s our beautiful friend “Papa G” who has lived in Uptown, Chicago since 1956. He tells me he’s lived quite a life. He was blessed with 5 girls and 1 boy. And that in turn added up to some 40 grandchildren!
Papa G tells me that he’s worked many, many jobs through out his life. One of his favorite was working for Baskin-clothing as a tailor for 18 years.
Papa G has been friends with Cornerstone for many years. He just enjoys stopping by and chatting about the latest in neighborhood “gossip” or just being so friendly and “real” with so many of our clients.
One person that he really loves is my wonderful wife, Sandy Ramsey, who just happens to be the CEO of CCO. “She is always trying to help people,” he says. ” She don’t care who you are, she’ll help you. She’s good people.” ( I couldn’t agree more.)
So Papa G gets around with a walker. He says he goes to physical therapy 5 days a week. “If you don’t walk, you’re going to lose it, ” he says.
His admonition to the poor folks struggling to survive in Uptown: “Learn to stick together… and stop envying each other!”
Thanks Papa G for sharing your wisdom… with us all.
Take care, Chris.
